The Yale Medicine Rheumatoid Arthritis Program addresses the challenges faced by patients with all forms of inflammatory arthritis. Our program focuses on three components:  patient care, patient education, and clinical research designed to advance our knowledge and treatment of arthritis.

The key to effective management of inflammatory arthritis begins with the correct diagnosis. We offer expertise in adult rheumatology, laboratory medicine, and radiology. We arrive at all decisions about medical therapy in collaboration with you; each patient is unique, and we aim to optimize the treatment of each individual. We work closely with our colleagues in physical and occupational therapy to ensure that you have appropriate guidance in physical activities and rehabilitation if indicated, and orthopaedic surgery to ensure you have access to up-to-date approaches in joint surgery if necessary. We believe in the importance of communication as you develop an understanding of  your disease processes and medical therapies.

One of our main goals is to educate you about your disease, appropriate therapies, and resources available to those living with inflammatory arthritis. We encourage you and your family to participate in all aspect of decision-making about your disease management. We work together with you to help you achieve a high quality of life.
